Understanding Payment Methods
Payment methods are used to understand what payment methods a customer has, and if they’re active, backup or inactive status.
Once a payment method is saved, the bank or card details can no longer be edited, only Nick Name, and Status can be edited.
You can see these by navigating to a customer and clicking the ‘Payment Methods’ module:
Gateway refers to the payment gateway used (e.g. BPoint, Ezidebit, Ezypay etc). If you only have one payment gateway, this field may be irrelevant to you.
Type refers to the payment type (e.g. Credit Card, Bank Account)
Primary refers to if the the payment method is the Primary method, a backup method, or is inactive
(Note: Inactive payment methods cannot typically be reactivated)
Details gives you a truncated view of the payment details, so that you can confirm those with your customer without revealing the full data. It also includes a Nickname if added.
Note: In the details section, some of the details may not be populated, if your data was migrated from another platform as we don’t have access to that information.
Date Added is the date the payment was added into PracBill
Payment Method Status ( Active/Inactive )
Once a method is set to inactive, it can not be reversed, the details are only kept their for historical purposes. You would need to recreate the method.
